I'll admit I don't know much about this level at the minute, so going with a player highlighted by Racing Post and Sky Sports News.

GSI selection - Bet #5-9
Here are the live game selections for today and also some for today's 3pm kick-offs:-

Firstly is Southampton v Millwall and the Saints look a team in turmoil as new manager Alan Pardew tries to get new players into shape. He has already said he thinks the season has come too quick, so a small punt on Millwall striker Alexander seems a decent option.
The first football league game on the BBC is a clash of the Premiership old boys and like Southampton, Newcastle don't look backable in any form.
I'm gone for new boy Simon Cox to make the step up from Division 1 to Championship for West Brom and breach what should still be a dodgy Toon defence.
There could be goals in this game and Ryan Taylor (available @ 9's) is the only Newcastle option for me because of his set pieces.

3 strikers I fancy to do well this season in this section and we'll start with Peterborough's Aaron McLean.
He's been banging in the goals in the last few seasons and shouldn't find the step up to dramactic. Derby don't looked likely contenders to go up this year, and Darren Ferguson's side should be full of goals as usual.
Maynard made the move from Crewe last year and after a years experience should be able to make his mark a few more times this season in a improved City squad. Preston are in decline and hopefully Nicky can take advantage.
Finally my tip for top scorer this season is West Ham's Freddie Sears after coming in on loan for a year to Crystal Palace. He should play and score against a Plymouth side which will struggle this year. I also considered the 1st goalscorer price of 7.5 @ Paddy Power and SkyBet with e/w odds of 1/4 for 5 places but will stick with anytimes prices for now.

Well my first selection of the season produced a profit as the no goalscorer bet returned 4.5 points on our 2 point investment as Boro and Sheffield Utd drew 0-0.
Howard and Wheater had a couple of half chances but nothing decent. A few new players to take note of. Yeates and Lita looked lively.

We're drawn to the goalscorer markets, then, and the first player to look up is Bobby Zamora as he caused the Lithuanian outfit all sorts of problems in the first leg.
He broke the deadlock, won the penalty for the second goal, and set up the third for substitute Seol Ki-Hyeon. He's scored a couple of nicely-taken goals in pre-season too, and all looks well with the striker after he rejected the summer advances of Hull.
However, the 5/1 about him scoring first looks about right and it's hard to get enthused about the 11/8 on him netting anytime either so we'll look further down the list.
Paddy Power's 3/1 about Danny Murphy scoring anytime immediately jumps out of the screen because he's 11/8 elsewhere and is in good nick himself.
He has also found the net in pre-season and tucked away the penalty Zamora won last week. With the Lithuanians needing a miracle there could well be some last-ditch tackles made at the back and another set-piece goal is not an unrealistic possibility.
Fulham should have plenty of ball in the last third and for that reason alone '3/1 Murphy anytime' looks a tad too big and we'll have a nibble at that.

Tony Mowbray's honeymoon period is on the verge of an abrupt end if he fails to get his Celtic side through their Champions League qualifying clash with Dinamo Moscow.
The Bhoys jetted out to the Russian capital on Monday trailing by a goal to nil after last week's first leg at Parkhead.
The overriding impression in the build-up is one of confidence from the Glaswegians.
Mowbray has told his players to perform with no fear having witnessed his side squander enough chances to have put them well in command of the tie.
Better finishing would have made a significant difference to the scoreline as Celtic lay siege to the Dinamo goal as they attempted to battle back from what proved to be Alexander Kokorin's seventh-minute winner.
New signing Marc-Antoine Fortune was particularly culpable while Scott McDonald and Danny Fox also missed chances to level the scoring.
Captain Gary Caldwell also saw enough to suggest they can score twice in Moscow whilst keeping it tight at the back and bookmakers offer a best price of 11/4 that Celtic can win the match and they are 7/2 to qualify.
They have since been beaten 2-1 by Sunderland in a pre-season friendly but it is hard to read too much into that as Mowbray made wholesale changes to his line-up against the Black Cats.
Scott Brown got 60 minutes on his comeback from injury and he could be a welcome alternative for Mowbray to turn to as he bids to find the key to unlock the Dinamo defence.
But that is back-to-back defeats after such a promising start for Mowbray and getting the better of a Dinamo side that is unbeaten in four and still going well in their own domestic campaign is not going to be easy despite all the bullish noises coming from within the camp.
Dinamo beat basement dwellers Khimki 2-0 over the weekend and are a fraction of odds-against to turn over Celtic once more.
Their swift counterattack policy is sure to cause some problems and in-form striker Aleksandr Kerzhakov could prove a real menace.
He bagged the second against Khimki and has now notched nine goals in 14 games for Dinamo in the league.
He deserves a goal for his tireless efforts in Glasgow and is worth a punt at 7/4 to get on the scoresheet at some stage.

Well Aberdeen did score but it wasn't Aluko as they lost 5-1.

GSI stands for Goal Scoring Investment and is my experiment into the risky world of goal scoring bets.
These type of bets is how I first got into football betting and I can remember the joy and I fun had in backing these scorers during those early days. The amazing feeling of watching Gillingham v Palace one Sunday afternoon and 33/1 first scorer come off is something I've been looking for a while.
Now older and wiser I know these type of bets very rarely come off and should be avoided as the bookies have the percentages in their favour.
However, I still have that feeling I have an instinct to find some goal scoring wonders, especially after many years of fantasy football success. The names of Redfearn, Phillips and Cahill have pocketed me many points and hopefully these type of players can pocket me profit as well.
As I've said, this will be an experiment for the season and hopefully I can study match reports and players from games and spot when they come 'in-form'.
I will stick mainly to anytime goal scorers unless value is found in an each way first goal scorer or any special markets appeal such as match bets (e.g. Owen v Torres).
Also we will lay down some inital bets anti-post for each divisions top goal scoring crown, and monitor and add to the pot as seems fit. We may even trade some positions, such as Zaki last season who started well but failed to score after Christmas.
Finally, I will be backing all goal scoring selections from BettingZone.co.uk, as they always seem to hit the mark quite often and was another reason why I thought this system could work.
All data will be stored in a nice spreadsheet and I will try and report monthly figures so far.
So hopefully I can provide some good insight into all things goal scoring and make some money on the way.
